Introducing the bi-weekly updates on the Dental EndoMaster Challenge. Our platform offers over 25 detailed dental 3D models for root canal training created using extracted teeth. These models are regularly updated to encompass nearly every type of tooth you may encounter in clinical settings.
We carefully select the most educationally valuable models and upload them to the challenge mode every two weeks. Participants can observe these models, conjecture the internal structure of the canals, and simulate cavity formation. The outcomes of these simulations can be assessed from various perspectives, providing a guide for actual dental procedures.
Presently, we're excited to introduce the 'Maxillary Lateral Incisor in Challenge Event':
The initial screen displays an X-ray image taken before extraction alongside a modeled tooth implanted in the dental arch. As you proceed, you'll see a 3D tooth model, revealing major internal structures like the pulp horn and canal orifice projected onto the occlusal surface. Carefully observing these areas, your task is to create a cavity that includes both the pulp horn and the canal orifice.
Simulation scores are evaluated based on three criteria:
Accuracy of the canal orifice positioning: The precision is assessed by measuring deviations when the marked point is drilled in the set direction, with a deviation under 0.6mm considered successful.
Appropriateness of cavity shape: Expanding the cavity as widely as possible without exceeding the outline formed by the pulp horn will garner higher scores.
Appropriateness of cavity depth: Evaluating whether the depth of the cavity is suitable.
Through these simulations, you will gain a precise understanding of teeth' internal and external structures and train yourself in the best practices for cavity formation.
